We had a great response to our three-month Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraising menu, so we're keeping this thing going! We've added a couple of new items to our already new menu, and this time $1 from every item purchased from this list will go to a Kansas City program called FIRE – the Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education. Their goal is to provide children with special needs the opportunity for an inclusive Catholic education at their home parish schools.
The new menu items are listed first – come on in and try them out!

We’re proud to announce a change in our lineup of beers on tap at Stumpy’s – a selection of Boulevard beers that’s hard to find at any other restaurant in Kansas City. So come on down, order some baby back ribs and try a locally brewed Boulevard that you’ve never had before and find a new favorite!
Boulevard’s fall seasonal beer is a medium-bodied, dark amber brew with a malty flavor. It’s named after Master Brewer Bob Werkowitch, a graduate of the U.S. Brewer’s Academy in 1947.
This farmhouse ale is named after Boulevard’s No. 7 tank, one that’s been something of a problem child. When the brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that temperamental vessel. It’s a straw-colored, light to medium-bodied beer with an earthy, spicy, grapefruit aroma and flavor and a soft, sweet malt flavor with prominent hop bitterness.
Boulevard’s take on India Pale Ale is inspired by its Smokestack Series Double-Wide IPA. This golden beer has an intensely floral, citrusy aroma, medium body and moderate caramel malt flavor.
This classic American lager is Boulevard’s salute to the bygone regional breweries of our area. This is 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized – a true taste of tradition.
This easy-drinking American-style wheat beer has become Boulevard’s most popular offering and the best-selling craft beer in the Midwest. A light-bodied, straw-colored beer, it boasts a natural citrusy flavor.
Boulevard’s Pale Ale is a great choice for any season with its smooth, fruity, well-balanced flavor. Fun fact: The Pale Ale is the first beer Boulevard brewed.
When you’re in the mood for something a little redder and thirst-quenching, go for the Amber Ale. English specialty malts impart a nutty sweetness, perfectly complemented by German hops.
Governor Stumpy’s name comes from Edward A. Stine, a native Kansas Citian, distinguished business man, lawyer and local folk hero. Stine came by his nickname “Governor Stumpy” after requesting that the band of a jam-packed local restaurant play the Tennessee Waltz for the fifth time. The frustrated band leader questioned his adamant request for the song, and Stine’s wife, Virginia “Ginno,” shouted up to the stage that he was the ex-governor of Tennessee. The band leader, now a bit excited to have a dignitary in the crowd, asked him for his name. Stine – taken off guard and put on the spot – quickly replied, “Governor Stumpy.”
Somehow the name stuck with him, and many of the patrons in the restaurant, intrigued by his presence, introduced themselves to Stine. From that day forward, as he frequented the local restaurants and businesses, he was known as “Governor Stumpy,” the ex-governor of Tennessee. Through the years the governor’s hospitable nature and fun-loving character made him into somewhat of a local dignitary. The grandchildren of Edward Stine proudly name this restaurant “Governor Stumpy’s” in memory of their beloved grandfather and in the tradition of hospitality and light-hearted fun that he evoked in so many people.
In 1997 Kevin Ryan and his family had a vision to create something of their own. So he leased the space at 321 E. Gregory and began tearing down walls. With lots of help from family and friends, the building began to take shape. The Ryan family was so immersed in this project that it is even the space where Kevin proposed to his now wife, Tanya. Fast forward 12 years and add in a few renovations, many children to the Ryan family and a great covered deck, and you have the best neighborhood bar and grill around. Come see for yourself.
